Coastal Hydrology, Hydrodynamics, and Oceanography at LSU
Interested graduate students and postdocs
Currently I do not have any funded positions available. If you have your own funding and would like to discuss the possibility of joining our group, please feel free to contact me
We are always on the lookout for talented and motivated graduate students! We welcome students from diverse educational backgrounds and encourage applications from individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields.
Interested in applying? You should email Matt detailing your interest in the group, along with your educational background, relevant skills, and a little bit about yourself. The email should include a detailed CV. You should also fill out a pre-application form for the Department of Oceanography before applying directly to LSU's Graduate School. Please review the admission criteria for both DOCS and the Graduate School. Applications must be received before May 15th for admission in the fall semester and by October 15th for the spring semester. Note: To be considered for funding, you will need to submit your materials well before these deadlines (generally in December/January for Fall admission or by summer for Spring admission).
Is funding available?
In addition to funded research projects (which I will advertise), applicants will be considered for departmental fellowships to provide funding for their degree (no specific criteria). We also expect the excellent graduate students that apply to this group to be competitive for federally-funded graduate research fellowships programs like the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Applications are due in December/January for admission starting in September of the following year. If you are interested in pursuing these options and would like some guidance, please contact Matt well in advance of the deadline with a detailed description of the project proposal, your background, and your CV.
